The Neue Oltner Zeitung reports on the first info event for «Menu Surprise»: Piazza Circulaire wants to turn food waste in Olten's restaurant scene into a culinary opportunity. From late summer 2027, participating restaurants are to create surprise menus from surplus food - with guest speaker Mirko Buri and a positive response from local businesses.

The Oltner Tagblatt sets «Menu Surprise» in the context of the food waste debate: according to the Federal Office for the Environment, around 190,000 tonnes of food from the catering industry are thrown away in Switzerland every year. Piazza Circulaire wants to tackle this with a Menu Surprise pass usable across several restaurants - the launch day with food waste pioneer Mirko Buri drew interest, but also critical questions about the format's actual impact.
